How Will COVID-19 Affect the Outlook for Impact Investment in Southeast Asia

9th June 2020 3:30pm Singapore Time

Session Highlights:

  • Even as different countries experience varying degrees of physical lockdown and restrictions from COVID-19, the repercussions on corporate liquidity will pose major challenges for funds and businesses alike.
  • COVID-19 has had a disproportionate impact on minorities and underprivileged communities. Panelists believe this magnifies the need to focus on gender lens investing (GLI), which would prioritize the needs of women and women-led businesses.
  • Investors on the panel pointed to blended finance innovations as an effective tool to attract a broader pool of capital by fulfilling both returns-driven and impact-driven objectives.
