Amita (Dholakia) Chaudhury is the Sustainable Business Director for Unilever, South East Asia and Australasia (SEAA). In her role, she business partners President, SEAA, the board and the market teams to drive an integrated agenda around sustainability driven business value. This involves identifying and supporting implementation of social and environmental programs in markets that can help build a brighter future for the planet and the communities Unilever SEAA serves, while delivering stronger business growth.
Prior to this she was the Global Diversity Director from 2010-2016. Her role as Global Diversity Director was to facilitate the development of Diversity and Inclusion strategy in partnership with the Global Diversity Board chaired by Paul Polman. During the time she led Diversity and Inclusion in Unilever, the company has become a well recognized leader in Gender balance winning over 30 awards across geographies including the Catalyst Award in 2013 for creating an enabling environment in recruitment, retention and development of women in the workplace. She has also been the recipient of the highest internal recognition – the Compass award for her work. Prior to her Diversity role, she worked in marketing roles at Colgate Palmolive and Unilever for 10 years and was nominated and won awards for outstanding brand marketing at both companies.
Amita has been a management professional for 17 years; she is also the author of the book, “Working mothers, happy kids” and associate of higher education academy at City university of London and a former lecturer at City University on Principles of Marketing. She has certified in Business management in Sustainability from University of Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership, has an MBA in Marketing and International Management from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India and Honors in Mathematics from University of Delhi, India. She is married with two children, and lives in Singapore.
