Debbie Aung Din is the co-founder of Proximity Designs. Since its founding in 2004, Debbie and her team have built one of Myanmar's largest agricultural services platforms — farm technology, agronomy and finance — to help small family farms be productive and profitable. This work has impacted over 700,000 farm households, with the aim to reach the million customer mark in the next few years.
A social entrepreneur with over 25 years of public sector experience in Asia, Debbie is one of Myanmar's leading rural development experts. Debbie has focused much of her career on poverty alleviation and development efforts in difficult places such as Mississippi, Cambodia, and Indonesia through NGOs, USAID, the UN and the World Bank. Debbie holds an MA from Harvard University in Public Policy and Development Economics and has received awards from the Schwab Foundation (World Economic Forum) and Skoll World Forum for Social Entrepreneurship.
