Sazzad Hossain has been serving as the CEO of SDI Academy, a social enetrprise that champions welfare of migrant workers through provision of customised English proficiency courses and various other vocational, since October 2013. Having the shared experience of not being proficient in English and struggling through the navigation of social situations in his early years, he wanted to build a platform to bridge this communication gap. His vision is to create an inclusive society through SDI Academy. So far SDI Academy has engaged over 120,000 Migrant workers through various channels and have graduated more than 7000 students through its programme. SDI Academy has won the ideasinc business challenge “Most Socially Responsible Start-up” 2014, DBS-NUS Social Venture Asia Green Lane Award 2015 and Crossing The Chasm Grand Prize 2016. SDI Academy has been nominated for the President’s Challenge and Yidan Education Prize.
SDI Academy is currently Partnering with Robert Bosch Foundation to bring their work to the Syrian Refugees in Germany, Turkey and Rohingyan Refugees in Malaysia and Bangladesh. They have also been asked to advice both Singapore and Japan government to advise on the migration policy.
