Is the AVPN Conference 2020 still taking place in Singapore?
After much deliberation, and with the guidance from the Ministry of Health Singapore (MOH) on the local Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) situation, we have decided to take the AVPN Conference 2020 – originally planned to take place at Suntec Convention Centre in Singapore – to the virtual realm. This was announced through an email sent on March 27, 2020 to all AVPN members as well as registered delegates. The AVPN Virtual Conference 2020 will take place from 8 – 12 June 2020.
We recommend that you do not initiate your travels to Singapore. Be sure to cancel your hotel reservations as soon as possible to avoid cancellation fees.
Why did AVPN decide to transit to a fully virtual conference?
The COVID-19 situation has escalated and spread to most countries and territories around the world.
In its efforts to contain and minimise the further spread of Covid-19 in Singapore, the Singapore government has tightened measures that include the following:
- All events and mass gatherings (e.g. conferences, exhibitions, festivals, concerts, sporting events, trade fairs) must be deferred or cancelled, regardless of size. This is a tightening of the previous requirement where all events and gatherings were to be limited to fewer than 250 participants.
- From 23 March 2020, 2359 hours, all short-term visitors (from anywhere in the world) will not be allowed to enter or transit through Singapore.
In support of Singapore’s containment efforts, AVPN has made the decision to take our Conference fully online for the first time ever. Its 2019 in-person edition gathered more than 1,300 social investors from 43 countries around the world.
While the world remains shaken and confined due to the unprecedented global pandemic, we at AVPN feel that it is more important than ever to take collective action, reinforce our connections to one another and share stories of inspiration and innovation that we can all learn from.

What can I expect at the AVPN Virtual Conference 2020?
The AVPN Conference is known for its ability to connect, learn and lead and the Virtual Conference is no different.
The 5-day learning programme comprises a series of live 45-minute and 60-minute sessions spread throughout the day to cater to audiences from various time zones. Each day is a deep dive into some of the most relevant themes in Asia, including Gender, Climate Action, Education, Livelihoods, and a special segment on COVID-19. Modules will be tailored for a variety of audiences from impact investing and strategic philanthropy to family offices and corporations.
All sessions are recorded so that you could access them conveniently at any time of the day.
Besides drawing insights from experts on topics pertinent to Asia’s social investing landscape, it is of great importance that delegates continue to find unparalled networking opportunities and enduring projects that they can collaborate on, particularly during this time of social isolation.
To this end, the virtual AVPN Hub is a starting point for delegates to harness the power of networks and drive capital towards impact. One of its key features is the AVPN Connector, which allows delegates to find fellow participants based on causes of interest and markets they are based in, and arrange for virtual meet-ups to get to know each other better. This Hub also contains thematic and learning zones, in which delegates can take deep dives into critical impact issues, feature their projects and participate in others.
Can you share more about the agenda?
The AVPN Virtual Conference will explore themes such as gender, climate action, nutrition, and health with a special segment on COVID-19 that highlights best practices from early actors who have made a tangible difference in these past months. Modules will be tailored for a variety of audiences from impact investing and strategic philanthropy to family offices and corporations.
Please check the Agenda page for the latest updates.
How do I access the sessions?
More details on how to access the sessions will be sent to the email address officially registered for the virtual conference in the lead up to the event.
