Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) investing is an approach that incorporates ESG factors into the investment analysis and decision-making process. The total volume of ESG assets under management (AUM) reached US$23 trillion as of 2016, accounting for about one-quarter of all professionally managed investments globally, demonstrating how investors are becoming increasingly cognizant of the relationship between competitive financial performance and social and environmental progress. Despite this trend, growth of ESG investing in Asia is still slow.
